Studying star-formation in the Radio Deep Field at low-frequencies using uGMRT

The study of radio-infrared (IR) relations is important as it connects various independent physical parameters in the interstellar medium. In this talk, I will present results on the radio-IR relation up to z~2 by using deep radio observations of the ELAIS N1 field from the uGMRT. I will show that q24 increases with redshift as the dust temperature rise at mid-infrared wavelengths. To mitigate any spectral dependence when the relations are studied using monochromatic emission, we have derived the bolometric radio-IR relations using the LOFAR data of the field at 146 MHz. The bolometric radio-IR relations measured in the frequency range 0.1-2 GHz upto for z~2 star-forming galaxies (SFGs) are intrinsically non-linear. I will argue that the non-linearity gives rise to an apparent evolution of the so-called q-parameter and propose that in high-z SFGs, a redshift evolution of magnetic field strengths and/or cosmic ray acceleration efficiency could lead to non-linear radio-IR relations.
